You lose, I Quinn
8 o'clock class periods can go really well if you have an entertaining professor and I have Gary Vander Plaats. Today, in the middle of Personal Finance, he said, "Hey, did you guys ever watch "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman"?
At that moment, I was transported back to a Friday night, sitting on the couch with my whole family, watching TGIF. We would laugh; we would cry. We would even embrace each other in "bear hugs" during commercials. Those were the days when my biggest worry was missing a "toss" from Mrs. Hickox and being hit in the face with a starburst.
GVP continued to say, "Remember that time Sully threw that axe..." But I was gone--thinking of a time when Jane Seymour not only fixed the deer with the gunshot wound, but fixed my little, broken junior high heart.

The Fabers were also avid Dr. Quinn fans. But if I'm not mistaken, it was never on TGIF - wasn't it Saturday night? Just a thought.
Another comment about Dr. Quinn, M.W. - Did you know that in the opening credits, Sully doesn't actually throw the axe? All throughout my childhood, I thought he threw the axe. But while watching a rerun a few weeks ago, I noticed that he actually doesn't throw it. Just at teh end of the clip, you can see him bring the axe back up into the frame. Of course, you probably all knew that, but I didn't. I guess I'm too much like Brian in Mr. Bre's candy store - I get all excited and don't pay attention to the details. Or like Horace fetching Mira from the whorehouse and having to maneuver around Hank. Umm...telegram?
I have a confession to make. I thought I was the alone in my adiction to Jane Seymour as Dr. Quinn. I too was a weekly watcher of Dr. Quinn (Saturday's, 8:00 et). I would also watch Joe Lando in the opening credits because my sister had informed me that he didn't actually throw the axe.
My favorite episode...when Matthew learns to play poker and wins lots of money. Michaela would not accept a pair of gloves from Matthew because he paid for them with his gambling winnings. Perhaps this age-old story can still be applied. If I'm not mistaken (and I'm usually not about this program), Matthew made good money for Ingrid and himself during that episode, but realized gambling was not the way to make an honest living.

My deepest apologies for the repeat posts on this amazing blog site. The computers were acting up and that is why. I would also like to apologize for not leaving my name at the conclusion of my post (this is Jim by the way). I'm not a fellow "blogger" as you might say, so I'll try to leave a name whenever I post.

Holy Crap!!! Johnny, this is your greatest post ever. Ive been laughing for like 80 minutes. I used to watch that show with my mom, I always thought Dr. Quinn was totally hot, but I never could tell anyone cause it was either get made fun of because you watched the show, or get spanked by my mom cause I thought she was gorgeous. I just played it safe and said that Sully was my man. I love you Johnny. I hope to post at least 7 more comments on this blog, Im telling everyone I meet about you. Whatever happened to that show, Im sure they must be coming out on DVD soon, Im sure Nichole could hook me up with a discount at BestBuy.
Aaron, I checked back in my memory, and you were right; The show played on Saturday nights. AND..I now remember the reason for my mistake regarding TGIF--I would dream about Dr. Quinn during "Hanging with Mr. Cooper." Sorry.
Eric, I'm afriad you're way behind the game. For as many times that you have grazed the DVD aisles of Best Buy, you should know that the first few seasons are already out. They're pricey, but precious. I think they just released Season 5 this week.
best blog EVER!!!
