Help me with my Pod-blem

I think I want an iPod.

I know two faithful iPodders that will quickly urge me to follow in their footsteps. No, Cooper does not count as two people just because he bought more than one iPod. I am talking about Cooper AND Bill. If you haven't read Bill's latest blog about the beauty of the iPod, I strongly suggest reading that right now.

Now, I am not a rash person. I have thought this through. I will definitely use it in my car, while riding dirt bikes and mountain bikes, and while jogging. But I still want advice--here's what I am thinking right now:

I am thinking I will throw down the $250 and get a iPod mini. It only holds 1o00 songs but it is small and I could use it while I am jogging. Plus it's adorable. I may wait to purchase the iTrip and just use a tape adapter till I feel justified for spending more money.

So what do you guys think? Am I right to go with the iPod mini? Should I spend the extra $50 for the standard iPod which holds 5000 songs? Will the size of the "normal iPod" be too big? I need your input.

What do I think? Well, 250 dollars is quite a large chunk of change. Think of all the things you could buy with that!? You may simply be feeling rich beyond belief because of the money you made with Apple. Maybe putting away the money and saving it for awhile is a good idea. This will give you time to truly make the best decision with how to invest your money.

Johnny, I thought you told your mom not to post on your blog?

About your problem: I might say go with the new iPod shuffle - it's perfect for this new thing called "jogging" that you speak of - but it doesn't have a nice LCD display. That's a big drawback. One of the best things about an iPod is it's sleek scrolling wheel and large LCD display.

So go with the mini. Not only does it hold plenty of room (50 hours of music/books), but I think the pink one would look good on you. Besides, Kelley loves that one. That way, anytime you're in the doghouse you just let her borrow it and everything is cool.

So, if you must have an iPod, I'd recommend the mini. I guess the question is more whether or not you need one, but forget that. Buy it, and if afterwards you are feeling poor, you can come over for a swim in my penny pool.

Well I was thinking, I could keep up to 1,000 songs in my pocket, I could take it everywhere β€” it’s only 3.6 ounces. I'm sure i could enjoy up to 8 hours of battery life. I could probably jog without fear β€” 25 minutes of skip protection. If I wanted to I could sync and charge via included FireWire or USB 2.0 cables. I might as well use it as a portable hard drive β€” take my files with me. If I need it, I could remind myself with Text Notes. If I ever got bored I could play games on-the-go and even stay organized with contacts/calendars/to-do lists.

Ok, you got me, I plagiarized this whole paragraph from the apple website; I just want one so bad...

I think what it all boils down to now is what color to get, am I correct? In that case, I'm gonna say blue, because it matches your eyes.

I agree with both Bill and Josh that $50 more for four times the memory is a good deal, BUT -- I think what is particularly attractive about the mini for Johnny is it's size. It sounds like he will be doing a lot of jogging with it, which is where the size comes in. So, unless he doesn't mind running with a 5.6-ounce machine as opposed to a 3.6-ounce one, go for the 20GB. Whichever one you get, you should get one of those arm straps so you can attach the ipod to your tricep. Makes you look stronger.

How many times have I told you Johnny....size isn't everything okay? It's all about how you use it.

Johnny,
I myself have pondered with the idea of purchasing a MP3 player with similar functions (only I would buy the Dell jukebox). Anywho, this i-pod mini costs $250, am I the only one who thinks $250 is outrageous to listen to songs while you jog??? And have you heard of a radio, CD player or cassette player?? Honestly, how much driving or jogging do you really do, Johnny?? Is it worth it to spend that much for something that will lose its popularity as fast as Good Charlotte? Call it my business savvy, but I can't see justifying spending that much for something that may not get a lot of use.

Not to affect your decision or anything, but if you buy from the Apple online store, you get a student discount. The mini is $229 and the 40GB is $269 with free shipping.

Just to keep you all posted, I am in the process of fixing my computer. As Bill found out, it's important to have a working computer when using an iPod. But if Aaron's rumor is true (and even if it isn't), I will be purchasing a iPod as soon as iCan.
